Box Score Tucson, Ariz. - Lewis & Clark put together a pair of four-run innings and topped DePauw 10-5. The Tigers dropped to 7-6, while the Pioneers improved to 9-15.
DePauw jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead as Reid Pittard led off the game with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch before Mile Hammel delivered a two-out, RBI single.
The Pioneers took the lead for good in the bottom of the second as Connor Eggleston led off with a single and moved to third on Nick Lockwood's double. Tommy Massari's grounder plated Eggleston and Lockwood came home on Akira Abderrahman's single.
Eggleston led off the fourth by reaching on an error before Massari walked and Abderrahman tripled and scored on an error . Bradley Lezak drew a two-out walk and moved to second on a wild pitch before scoring on Matt Donovan's single.
Connor Einertson led off the DePauw fifth with a double and scored on Pittard's single. The Tigers cut the lead to 6-3 in the fifth when Lucas Italiano led off with a base hit and moved to second on Hammel's single. Each advanced on a stolen base and then a wild pitch which scored Italiano.
The Pioneers wrapped up their scoring in the sixth as Ben Beck tripled and scored on Lezak's single before Cooper Larson singled and Sean Shepherd followed with a two-run triple. Shepherd then scored on a wild pitch.
The Tigers added a pair of uneared runs in the seventh, but couldn't threaten over the final two frames.
DePauw totaled 11 hits paced by Pittard, Italiano, Hammel and Grippo with two each. Lewis & Clark finished with 12 hits with Lezak, Shepherd, Lockwood and Abderrahman each totaling two.
Drake Gilliland improved to 1-2 with the win and struck out nine with no walks in 6 2/3 innings. Andrew Quinn dropped to 0-1 with the loss.
The Tigers return to action on Thursday, March 24, with a 3 p.m. MST game with Hamline.
