Westfield, Ind. – DePauw got off to a nice start to their weekend with 4-2 and 7-6 wins over Hanover on Friday at Grand Park in Westfield.

In game one, Tigers recorded nine hits and was propelled by a three-run second inning. Ryan Grippo, Lucas Italiano and Tate Stewart each recorded two hits. Italiano recorded one RBI, and Jack Thompson recorded two of his own.

Wyatt Spector went seven innings to pick up the win. His only run given up was unearned. Jack Dillion came in for an inning of work before Nick Horvath took the save.

In game two, Rick Okazaki got the start at catcher and made the most of it, going 3-for-4 with four RBI including the walk-off infield single to short. Even his foul balls made noise, as he shattered a light alongside the first base side midway through the game.

Mike Hammel started in left field but pitched the final inning for the Tigers to take the win. Riley Futterknecht started and pitched six innings. He struck out seven batters and allowed just two earned runs.

DePauw led the majority of the game until Hanover put up five runs in the top of the seventh. However, DePauw tied it back up in the bottom of the inning and eventually won in the ninth.

The Tigers' next scheduled game is Sunday against Capital, but that game has been postponed to be played early next week.

The Tigers improve to 4-4 overall, and the Panthers fall to 2-7.
