Box Score 2 Westfield, Ind. - The Tigers posted a pair of excellent pitching performances and came away with a doubleheader split with Anderson in games played at Grand Park in the season openers for both squads. Anderson won the opener, 1-0, while DePauw took the nightcap, 4-2.
In the opener, the Ravens scratched across the game's lone run in the top of the fifth as Jacob Morgan led off with a double and scored on Connor Morris' single up the middle.
DePauw left two runners stranded each in the first and fourth innings, but none in the last five. Collin Einertson and Mike Hammel each had singles for the Tigers, while Boston Fields had two of Anderson's five hits.
Wyatt Spector started and tossed seven innings for the Tigers with four strikeouts and no walks, while Andrew Quinn pitched two innings of shutout relief. Brian Page collected the win for Anderson after going six shutout innings. Ben Yoder picked up the save with three hitless innings.
The Ravens took a 2-0 lead in the second inning of game two as they scored a pair of unearned runs. Nick Butcher singled with two outs and moved to second on a wild pitch. Evan Bowling reached on a DePauw error that allowed Butcher to score. Bowling stole third and an error on the play allowed him to score.
DePauw's first runs of the day came in the bottom of the sixth as Tate Stewart led off with a double down the left field line and moved to third on Reid Pittard's single to left. Collin Einertson singled with one out, scoring Stewart. An error on the play also allowed Pittard to cross and tie the score. Mike Hammel's grounder to short plated Einertson and gave the Tigers a 3-2 lead.
In the seventh, Ryan Grippo led off with a single and advanced to second on Rick Okasaki's sacrifice bunt and to third on a wild pitch. Stewart followed with a run-scoring single to left.
Stewart collected three of DePauw's nine hits with Pittard adding two. Fiver different Ravens had one hit each.
Riley Futterknecht earned the win on the mound with two unearned runs and five strikeouts in six innings. Nick Horvath notched the save after two innings of scoreless relief with five strikeouts.
Cameron Dotson suffered the loss for the Ravens after hurling the first 5 2/3 innings.
The two teams square off in a single game tomorrow with the first pitch scheduled for Noon at Grand Park.
