Box Score Greencastle, Ind. - It took over seven hours to complete including a four-hour, 21-minute rain delay, and Case Western Reserve defeated DePauw, 11-3, at Walker Field.
The Spartans scored one each in the opening two innnigs as Kerrigan Cain doubled home Andrew Gronski in the first and Josh Neal knocked in Antonio Damiano with a double to right center.
The rains came in the top of the second and, when play resumed, the Tigers reached the board in the third as Connor Einertson walked and later scored on Jack Thompson's sacrifice fly.
Case Western broke the game open in the fifth with six runs. Robert Winemiller drove in two with a double to right, while Eric Eldred and Damiano drove in one each with singles. Josh Neal wrapped up the scoring in the inning with a two-run single to right.
The Spartans extended the lead to 11-1 with three in the seventh as Danny Souza plated one with a single and Cain drove in a pair with a single to center.
DePauw added one in the seventh as Einertson led off with a double and moved to third on Cory Meixner's single. Ryan Allee and Tate Stewart each walked, allowing Einertson to score.
Reid Pittard led off the DePauw eighth with a single and moved to second when Meixner was hit by a pitch. Thompson's double down the right field line scored Pittard.
Collin Henry had four of DePauw's 11 hits with Pittard and Meixner finishing with two each. The Tigers left 17 runners on base in the loss.
Cain and Eldred each had three of Case Western's 15 hits, while Neal, Cain and Damiano had two apiece.
Jack Peck dropped to 3-4 after pitching 1 2/3 innings prior to the delay. Jake Shields improved to 4-2.
DePauw returns to action tomorrow when it hosts Washington-St. Louis at 10 a.m. and Case Western at 4 p.m.
