Box Score Greencastle, Ind. – The DePauw women's soccer team shutout Hiram 3-0 on Saturday to stay undefeated in North Coast Athletic Conference play.
Riley Riordan (6-5-1) denied Hiram for 82:41 and recorded four saves in the process. Sarah Cho finished the rest of the game in net but DePauw kept the ball on the other side of the field the entire time.
Elizabeth Seewer hit the game-winning goal early at the 12:11 mark. Megann Lear led her with a pass, giving Seewer a one-on-one with the goalie, which she capitalized on.
Depauw finished its scoring with goals from unlikely places. The first came from Kathryn Ruark just before the half to put DePauw up 2-0. It was the sophomore's first career goal at the DePauw.
The third goal came from Jen Dimos at 80:22. Dimos was on the far right side of the field when she lifted the ball high toward the goal and saw it drop in. It was the junior's first goal since her freshman season.
DePauw outshot Hiram 14-7, and both teams made four saves in net. DePauw took eight corners to Hiram's one, while Hiram committed 12 fouls to DePauw's four.
Two yellow cards were issued to DePauw – one to its bench and the other on Stephanie Martin.
The win moves DePauw to 6-5-2 overall. Hiram is now 4-9 overall and 0-3 in the conference. Before the game the team recognized its seniors: Cho, Meredith Schoenfeld, Martin, Alyson Marzonie, Caroline Maloney (who just missed scoring on a header), Caroline Zadina and Lear.
The women return to action on Wednesday when they host Ohio Wesleyan at 7 p.m.
