Oberlin, Ohio - DePauw women's soccer secured the #2 seed in the NCAC tournament following a 1-0 win over Oberlin, Saturday.
Sophia Grueninger netted the game winning goal for the Tigers off a free kick from the left mid position, scoring from 40+ yards out of the goal. She delivered a clean kick to the upper right side of the net. The goal is Grueninger's second of the season with five points.
Oberlin struggled to gain momentum, with the Tigers' outshooting the Yeowomen 10-5 and 5-3 in corners.
Peyton Howard received a yellow card in the 56th minute.
DePauw moves to 10-6-1 (4-3) while Oberlin falls to 3-10-4 (0-6-1).
The Tigers will move onto the NCAC Tournament Semifinals, hosting #3 Denison University at S. Page Cotton Field on Thursday at 7 p.m for Game 2. The winner will move onto the finals Sunday to play against the winner of Game 1, #4 Kenyon at #1 John Carroll. The highest remaining seed will host the championship game.
