Greencastle, Ind. - The DePauw women's soccer team fell to third-seed Denison 1-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament semifinal game. The Tigers wrap up their season with an overall record of 10-7-1 (5-2), while the Big Red improved to 9-4-5 (3-1-3) and hit the road to play John Carroll on Sunday, November 9.
An early opportunity in the fifth minute was the game difference when Denison junior Mattie Mielke's corner was headed in by the junior midfielder Mara McGlone.
The Tigers totaled 9 shots to the Big Red's 14, with DePauw maintaining possession for 56% of the game to Denison's 44%. The game was clean, neither team drew any cards, and DePauw had a total of 4 corners on the game, while Denison had 2.
Strong defense and goalkeeping as DePauw junior goalkeeper Aubrey Empie had 7 saves on the day, and senior goalkeeper Molly Noga totalled 5 saves.
With the loss, DePauw is eliminated from tournament play and its season is concluded, whileDenison moves on to play John Carroll in the NCAC championship Sunday, November 9th.
