April 30, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — Rob McPike's RBI single in the bottom of the 11th lifted DePauw to a 14-13 win over visiting Washington University in the first game of a doubleheader at Walker Field, but the Bears rallied for a 6-4 win in the nightcap.

DePauw is now 17-21 after the split and wraps up the season with a doubleheader at the University of Chicago tomorrow afternoon. Washington is now 27-17.

Sam Swafford led of the DePauw 11th in the opener with a single and moved to second on Ryan Heeb's sacrifice bunt. Swafford then advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on McPike's two-out single to right.

The Tigers scored four in the first and two more in the second to take a 6-0 lead before the Bears cut the margin to 6-4 with four in the fourth. Jason Cohen's bases loaded triple in the fourth sparked a six-run inning which pushed DePauw's lead to 12-4.

Washington closed the gap to 12-10 with six runs in the sixth and forced extra innings with Ben Ingell's two-run single in the seventh.

The Bears took a 13-12 lead on Brandon Rogalski's homer to left center in the eighth. A dropped popup at second with two outs in the bottom of the eighth would have ended the game, but DePauw kept the game going when Sam Yeary drew a bases loaded walk which scored Brandon Pashia.

In the final three innings, DePauw's defense recorded two double plays and a pickoff at second.

DePauw totaled 14 hits led by McPike's four and two each from Cohen and Alex Berlyn. Cohen drove in four in the win. Matt Skinner led Washington with four of its 16 hits with Rogalski and Ingell each adding three. Matt Bayer, Joe Noon and Andrew Dwoskin had two hits apiece.

Hobs Donovan improved to 6-4 with five innings of relief work, while H.T. Flanagan dropped to 3-3.

The Bears took a 2-0 lead in the opening frame of the second game as Miguel Davis singled to third and scored on Rogalski's homer over the scoreboard in left. DePauw evened the score in the second as Ben Gardner's sacrifice fly scored Swafford and Pat Lyons' infield hit plated Pashia.

Greg Gleicher gave the Bears a 3-2 lead in the fourth as his single scored Skinner, but DePauw regained the lead in the fourth when McPike brought home Pashia with a single and Cohen drove in Heeb with a sacrifice fly.

Washington gained the lead for good in the sixth as Gleicher doubled in Bayer and then scored on Joe Noon's pinch-hit single. The Bears added another run in the seventh when Travis May singled home Rogalski.

Lyons and Robbie Stein each had four of DePauw's seven hits, while Rogalski, Skinner, May, Bayer and Gleicher each tallied two of the Bears' 14 hits.

Reliever Derek Mounsey dropped to 0-2 with the loss, while Michael Reilly improved to 2-0.
