Box Score April 3, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Rhodes jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first and never trailed on the way to a 10-5 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win over DePauw at Walker Field. The Tigers dropped to 13-11 overall and 2-5 in SCAC play, while the Lynx improved to 20-7 overall and 6-1 in conference play. The teams wrap up their series with a Sunday doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
Brent Lindsey and Andy Meier hit back-to-back doubles in the first to give Rhodes a 3-0 lead as the first four batters reached base. Chris Conkell made it 4-0 with an RBI single. DePauw countered with one in the bottom of the first as Ben Gardner led off with a single and later scored on Jason Cohen's single through the left side.
Conkell grounded into a third inning double play which plated Lindsey to make it 5-0. Travis Perkins and Andy Boucher each had run-scoring singles in the fourth before Lindsey hammed a two-run homer to left to make it 9-1. Conkell came home from third in the fifth as part of a double steal.
The Tigers added four in the seventh as Drew Holy and Alex Jacques hit doubles and Gardner drove in Jacques with a single. Taylor Hoffman was hit by a pitch before Rob McPike's double scored Gardner. Hoffman then scored on a passed ball.
Rhodes totaled 13 hits paced by three each from Lindsey and Matt Gilbert. Boucher collected a pair, while Lindsey scored three and drove in three. Gardner, McPike and Cohen each had two of DePauw's nine hits.
Hunter Chandler improved to 2-0, while Mike Peterson dropped to 1-5.
