April 17, 2010, Danville, Ky. —  DePauw split its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Centre and with the win clinched a spot in the SCAC Tournament. The Tigers are 20-15 overall and 8-6 in the SCAC, while the Colonels are now 10-19 overall and 5-9 in the conference.

In the opening game, DePauw took a 1-0 lead in the second when Sam Linette's single scored Jason Cohen. Ryan Crowdis knotted the score in the bottom of the inning with a solo homer  before the Tigers regained the lead in the third on Rob McPike's ground out which scored Ben Gardner.

In the bottom of the fifth Danny Freudiger hit a two-run homer which provided the game-winning margin.

DePauw totaled just two hits as Gardner and Linette had one each. Steven Proctor had two of Centre's four hits. Brad Gerlach dropped to 2-2 despite allowing just one earned run. Joe Nash improved to 2-2 with the win and retired the final 15 batters he faced.

In the nightcap, DePauw scored three in the eighth to extend a 6-4 lead to 9-4 on the way to the win. Cohen's first-inning double scored Taylor Hoffman, but the Colonels knotted the score in the bottom of the inning when Proctor singled home Freudiger. Gardner singled in the second to score Sam Swafford before Hoffman followed with a sacrifice fly scoring Alex Berlyn.

Centre's Steven Kull scored from third in the third when Proctor reached on a fielder's choice. Berlyn's solo homer in the fourth gave the Tigers a 4-2 lead before Swafford singled in Alex Wright and Berlyn lifted a sacrifice fly which scored Drew Holy.

Freudiger's fifth inning, solo homer cut the margin to 6-3 before Proctor's sacrifice fly drove in John Clark. McPike's two-run double in the eighth scored Berlyn and Gardner. McPike later scored when Jon Newman doubled. Kull closed out the scoring with a triple which scored Nate Lambert.

DePauw totaled 13 hits paced by McPike's three and two each from Gardner, Newman and Swafford. Freudiger and Kull each had three of Centre's nine hits. Hobs Donovan improved to 3-1, while Ben Lause dropped to 3-2.

The teams face each other in a single game on Sunday.
