April 11, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Elliott Ross and T.J. Witham combined for a four-hit shutout as DePauw blanked Sewanee, 14-0, and swept the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series. The host Tigers improved to 19-13 overall and 7-5 in SCAC play, while Sewanee dropped to 6-23 overall and 1-11 in conference play.
Taylor Hoffman scored from third on a wild pitch in the first with DePauw's first run before Jon Newman led off the second with a homer to left center. Later in the second, Alex Jacques drove in Alex Wright in the second with a sacrifice fly and Ben Gardner plated Sam Linette with a single to make it 4-0. The Tigers added four more in the fourth and six in the sixth for the win.
Newman paced the Tigers with three of their 10 hits, while Wright and Rob McPike each had two. McPike and Newman each drove in three. Connor Liston had two of Sewanee's four hits.
Ross improved to 7-1 after allowing just three hits in six innings, while Witham allowed just one in the seventh inning. Chris Mauro dropped to 1-2 with the loss.
DePauw returns to action on Wednesday, April 14, when it travels to Wabash College.
