March 23, 2010, Atlanta, Ga. —  Host Emory hit a grand slam in the first, but that would be all the runs it would score as DePauw scored nine unanswered runs for a 9-4 win. The Tigers improved to 10-7, while the Eagles dropped to 10-10.

The first three Emory batters reached base in the bottom of the first before Marc Terranove delivered a two-out grand slam to left center.

The Tigers loaded the bases in the second, but hit into an inning-ending double play. In the fourth Sam Linette led off with a walk and Jon Newman followed with a homer to left. Taylor Hoffman's bases loaded single scored Sam Swafford and an error on the throw from the outfield allowed both Alex Berlyn and Ben Gardner to score and give DePauw a 5-4 lead.

Newman's bases loaded single in the seventh scored Hoffman, while Rob McPike scored after Drew Holy hit into a double play to make it 7-4. McPike's sacrifice fly in the eighth scored Swafford and Holy scored the Tigers' final run in the ninth when he came home on a wild pitch.

DePauw starter Elliott Ross retired 16 straight Emory batters before the Eagles loaded the bases with a single, walk and hit batsman in the eighth. Edward Metzger entered in relief and recorded a strikeout and a pop up to end the threat. Metzger then retired Emory in order in the ninth.

The Tigers totaled 14 hits led b Holy's three and two each from Hoffman, Newman, Alex Wright and Swafford. Newman drove in three in the win. Emory totaled just four hits with Ryan Jones totaling two.

Ross improved to 4-1 with the win, while Metzger recorded his first save. Matthew Katten dropped to 3-2 with the loss.

DePauw travels to Piedmont tomorrow for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
