Box Score 2 April 26, 2008, Danville, Ky. - The 19th-ranked Tigers dropped a 3-1, 11-inning contest to Trinity which sent them to the loser's bracket of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship and Millsaps knocked DePauw out of the double-elimination tournament with a 7-0 win this evening.
The Tigers dropped to 33-11 with the losses and travel to the University of Chicago on Saturday, May 3, for a doubleheader.
DePauw reached the scoreboard first against in the fifth inning as Jack Gavin led off with a single and moved to second on Kyle Thompson's sacrifice bunt. Eric Reese then delivered a two-out single to right, scoring Gavin.
Trinity countered with one in the eighth as Dylan Early singled to center with one out and Stosh Hoover followed with a triple to right center.
In the 11th Trinity's Evan Jones led off with a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. After an intentional walk put runners at first and second, the Tigers were able to get Steven Ramos to hit a ground ball. DePauw got the force at second on the play, but a throwing error on the completion of the double play allowed a run to score. The Tigers then committed another error which allowed the second run of the inning to cross the plate.
Brian Oates picked up the win to improve to 7-2, while Clint Robertson picked up his second save. Paul Rodenhouse dropped to 2-2 with the loss. Oates struck out 13 in 10 innings, while DePauw starter Jeremy Alland struck out 12 in nine frames. Five different Tigers collected one hit apiece, while Early and and Hoover each had a pair.
In the Millsaps elimination game, the Majors scored two each in the first and third on a pair of Will Hawkins two-run doubles. They added one in the fifth and two in the sixth for the win.
Matt Kleine and Jeremy Dickinson each had two of DePauw's eight hits, while Hunter Abram and Derrik Bolan each had two of the Majors' 12 hits with Hunter Owen and Hawkins each adding a pair. Tait Hendrix improved to 6-4 with the complete game shutout as he struck out 15 Tigers. Aaron Meyers dropped to 6-2 with the loss.
