Box Score March 25, 2008, Demorest, Ga. - The 27th-ranked Tigers put together their second straight ninth-inning rally as they scored four in the final frame to take a 7-5 victory at fifth-ranked Piedmont. DePauw, off to its best start since 1996, improved to 16-3 with its eighth straight victory, while the Lions dropped to 20-5.
Reese singled with one out in the ninth, moved to second on a walk and scored when Taylor Hoffman reached on an infield error. Matt Kleine then grounded out and Mike Stout drew an intentional walk which loaded the bases. Adam Ford then delivered a bases-clearing double which gave the Tigers the lead and eventually the win.
The Lions put two on with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but DePauw turned a double play to end the game.
The Tigers took a 2-0 lead with one each in the first and second innings before the hosts knotted the score with one each in the second and third.
DePauw took a 3-2 lead in the fourth on Eric Reese's double which scored Sam Linette. Corey Lindsey's groundout in the fourth scoed Jared Moon before Evan Nissley gave the Lions a 4-3 advantage on a single that plated Cole Spedale. Piedmont made it 5-3 in the sixth when Lindsey singled scoring Spedale.
Ford and Reese each had two of DePauw's nine base hits, while Matt Devito, Spedale, Justin Oates and Lindsey each had two of the Lions' 15 hits.
Brian Fisher picked the win in relief and moved to 1-0, while Paul Rodenhouse notched his fourth save. Tom Dimitroff dropped to 5-2.
