Box Score March 23, 2008, Birmingham, Ala. - The Tigers improved to 14-3 overall and 3-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference following a 7-3 win at Birmingham-Southern. DePauw extended its win streak to six as the Panthers dropped to 10-11.
Aaron Meyers allowed just one earned run over eight innings, while striking out six and not allowing a walk on the way to his third win in as many decisions.
The host Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the first on Bryan Higginbotham's RBI double before DePauw knotted the score in the third when Kyle Thompson scored on a two-out error.
The Tigers scored two in the fourth on Jeremy Dickinson's two-run single before Birmingham-Southern scored once in the bottom of the fourth on Clay Jones' run-scoring single.
In the fourth, Taylor Hoffman drove in Justin Weiner with a double and later scored on Matt Kleine's single. Kleine scored on Adam Ford's RBI single and Sam Linette knocked in Mike Stout with a sacrifice fly.
The Panthers closed out the scoring in the ninth when Kyle Mayes singled home Jones.
DePauw totaled 12 hits in the win with Ford collecting three and Hoffman, Kleine, Thompson and Dickinson each adding a pair.
Reed Tuttle had three of the Panthers' 10 hits, while Sam Hill and Jones each added two. Clay Malcolm suffered the loss and dropped to 3-3 after going four innings.
The two teams wrap up their four-game series on Monday with a 2 p.m. CDT single game.
