Box Score 2 March 2, 2008, Danville, Ky. - DePauw improved to 4-2 on the season afer defeating Momouth, 10-2, and Centre, 9-8, in 10 innings.
Against Monmouth, the Tigers scored four in the fourth, two in the seventh and four more in the eighth in claiming the win. DePauw totaled nine hits with Justin Weiner, Adam Ford and Jack Gavin each finishing with two. Gavin drove in three and collected the team's lone extra base hit with a double.
Ryan Stubler and Brian Wilhelm each had two of Monmouth's eight hits. DePauw starter Aaron Meyers improved to 1-0 after allowing two runs and striking out nine in 5 1/3 innings. Matt Bourne suffered the loss.
The Tigers rallied from a 8-4 deficit against Centre with four in the eighth and then scored the game-winning run in the 10th.
Ford drove in the first run of the eighth with a double before Sam Linette homered to make it 8-7. Taylor Hoffman's RBI single scored Jon Newman and tied the game.
In the 10th, Newman led off with a walk, moved to second on Eric Reese's sacrifice bunt. Weiner then singled and Hoffman walked to load the bases. Matt Kleine was hit by a pitch and drove home Newman with the eventual winning run.
DePauw totaled 14 hits with Reese and Mike Stout each collecting three. Hoffman added two, while Kleine drove in three. Stout also homered in the contest.
John Clark led Centre with three of their 11 hits, while Brandon Rosen and Kevin McGee each added a pair.
Derek Bryant improved to 2-0 with a win in relief, while Paul Rodenhouse notched his second save with a perfect 10th. Centre's Jeffrey Williams suffered the loss.
DePauw is scheduled to host Franklin on Wednesday, March 5, weather permitting.
