March 15, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Taylor Hoffman's pinch-hit single in the bottom of the ninth scored Sam Linette from third and lifted DePauw to a 3-2 win over Lakeland. DePauw improved to 9-3 with the win, while the Muskies dropped to 0-1.

The Muskies took a 1-0 lead in the second after Alex Grant doubled in Doug Nowak, but DePauw knotted the score when Mike Stout scored from third after Adam Ford was caught off of first and got in a rundown.

DePauw took the lead in the eighth when Ben Gardner scored from third on a passed ball, but a two-out error in the top of the ninth allowed pinch-runner Paul Smith to score from third and tied the score.

Linette ripped a two-out double in the bottom of the ninth and moved to third on a balk before Hoffman delivered the game-winning hit.

Linette finished with two of DePauw's five hits-both doubles. Cal Post and Doug Novak each recorded two of the Muskies' eight hits.

Paul Rodenhouse picked up the relief win and improved to 1-0, while Lee Chepil suffered the loss in relief and dropped to 0-1.
