May 3, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - The Tigers scored three in the first on Matt Kleine's three-run homer and added three more in the sixth and held on in the closing inning for a 6-5 win over visiting Franklin.

DePauw improved to 24-16 as starter Jeremy Alland improved to 6-2, while Paul Rodenhouse notched his DePauw career-record eighth saves and tied the Tigers' single-season mark with his seventh this year. Franklin starter Eric Williams dropped to 1-5 as the Grizzlies slipped to 22-15.

Matt Fritz led off the first by being hit by a pitch and Chris Newman followed with a single. Kleine then delivered his third homer of the season over the fence in right.

In the fourth, Jack Gavin led off with a single and moved to second when Taylor Hoffman reached on a Franklin error. Kyle Thompson's sacrifice bunt advanced the runners before Eric Reese's single scored Gavin. Hoffman scored on the play after a Franklin throwing error on the play. Newman then singled home Reese and made it 6-0.

The Grizzlies scored three in the seventh on singles by Lance Noel and Jim Swienconek and a fielder's choice RBI by Derek Smith.

With one out in the ninth, Swienconek and Nick Arnold each singled before Smith reached on a fielder's choice. Nick Ostergaard then singled home Swienconek and Lance LaBonte played Smith on a single to third. Rodenhouse struck out pinch-hitter Ryan East to end the game.

DePauw totaled 11 hits with Chris Newman, Kleine and Reese each collecting three. Swienconek led the Grizzlies with three of their 13 hits, while Noel, Ostergaard, LaBonte and Cory Wahl each added a pair.

The Tigers close out the season with a 1 p.m. CDT doubleheader at the University of Chicago.
