Box Score 2 April 1, 2007, Sewanee, Tenn. - DePauw won the second game of its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Sewanee and earned a split in the twinbill. Sewanee took the first game by a 10-7 count, while DePauw won the second, 9-5.
DePauw is now 15-11 overall and 5-3 in the SCAC, while Sewanee is 4-22 overall and 1-7 in the conference.
In the opening game, DePauw held a 4-2 lead in the second, but Sewanee scored seven in the bottom of the second and never trailed after that.
DePauw totaled 12 hits with Adam Ford, Justin Weiner and Eric Reese each collecting two. Ford hit a leadoff homer in the third. Sewanee also totaled 12 hits with John Davis totaling four and Tom Willis, Brian Pedersen and Frank Morris each adding two.
Will King improved to 1-1 with the win, while Richard Cassedy picked up his first save. Brad Gerlach dropped to 1-2 with the loss.
In the nightcap, Sewanee took a 3-0 lead in the first before DePauw rallied with four in the third, 1 in the fifth and three in the sixth.
DePauw totaled 15 hits led by Chris Newman with three followed by Jeremy Dickinson, Matt Kleine, Ford, Weiner and Taylor Hoffman with two apiece. Hoffman hit a solo homer in the ninth. Davis collected two of Sewanee's six hits and drove in three. Davis and Daniel Hinkle each homered in the loss.
Matt Westernkirchner took the win and improved to 2-0, while Greg Bartleski dropped to 0-6 with the loss.
DePauw hosts Franklin at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
