Box Score April 2, 2006, Atlanta, Ga. - DePauw concluded its four-game series at Oglethorpe with a 10-7 loss. The Tigers dropped to 10-14 overall and 3-5 in the SCAC, while Oglethorpe improved to 8-20 overall and 4-4 in the SCAC.
The Stormy Petrels jumped out to a 4-0 lead with three in the first and one in the second before the Tigers reached the board with one in the fourth on Greg DeBeer's RBI double that scored Jeremy Dickinson.
Oglethorpe extended the lead to 9-1 with five in the fifth. DePauw scored four in the top of the seventh on Chris Newman's RBI single that scored Matt Drew and Matt Kleine's three-run homer. The round-tripper was his third of the series.
The Stormy Petrels added one in the eighth to make it 10-5. DeBeer's single in the ninth scored Newman and Adam Ford's fielder's choice plated Kleine to close the gap to 10-7. The game ended with the potential tying run at the plate.
DePauw totaled 12 hits with Newman, Kleine, DeBeer and Matt Deahl each finishing with two. Kleine drove in three with his homer.
Oglethorpe finished with 18 hits with Evan Baker, Scott Casey and Micah Seehorn each finishing with three. Tim Ernst, Chris Thompson, Nick White and Josh Burr each added two.
J.T. Baker improved to 2-1 with the win, while Ernst picked up his second save. Jeremy Alland dropped to 1-1 with the loss.
The Tigers host Franklin on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
