Box Score March 4, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - The Tigers scored five in the fifth to break open a tight game and held on for an 8-4 victory over visiting Benedictine. The Tigers improved to 4-2 with the win, while the Eagles dropped to 0-1.
DePauw starter P.J. Mitchell took a no-hitter into the eighth before Rick Pacaro spoiled it with a leadoff single to right. Mitchell picked up the win by allowing just one run and one hit in seven innings, while striking out 10 and not allowing any walks. Steve Sadowski suffered the loss for the Eagles.
The Tigers collected seven hits with Greg DeBeer going 3-for-4 and driving in three including two on a double in the fifth. Matt Deahl finished with a pair of hits in the win.
DePauw hosts North Park on Sunday at 11 a.m. and Mount St. Joseph at 2 p.m. Both are nine inning games.
