Box Score March 31, 2006, Atlanta, Ga. - The Tigers dropped to 9-12 overall and 2-3 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference after dropping the first of a four-game series with Oglethorpe by a 5-4 score. The Stormy Petrels improved to 6-19 overall and 2-3 in the SCAC.
Oglethorpe scored two in the third on a two-run double from Scott Casey. DePauw tied the game in the fourth on Adam Ford's two-run single that scored Matt Deahl and Greg DeBeer.
The Tigers took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth after Chris Newman reached base on an error, moved to second on a ground out. He then moved to third on a passed ball and scored on another passed ball.
Oglethorpe regained the lead in the fifth as Evan Baker doubled and Casey singled him home. Chris Thompson then added a two-out, two-run homer to make it 5-3.
DePauw scored one in the ninth on Matt Kleine's solo homer.
DePauw totaled five hits with five different players recording one each, while Oglethorpe finished with nine Bakers went 4-for-4 int he win, while Casdey collected two hits and drive in three runs.
Nick Greenfield improved to 2-5 with the win, while P.J. Mitchell dropped to 3-4.
The teams meet for a Saturday doubleheader.
