Box Score March 28, 2006, Atlanta, Ga. - Host Emory broke open a close game with five runs in the sixth on the way to an 8-1 win over visiting DePauw. The third-ranked Eagles improved to 22-2 with the win, while DePauw dropped to 9-9.
Emory jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the fourth on Tim Cournoyer's solo home run before the Tigers knotted the score in the fifth on Jeremy Dickinson's single that scored Chris Newman from third. Frank Pfister scored on a wild pitch in the fifth to give Emory a 2-1 lead.
In the sixth, Griffin Baum double to score Bryan Langbord before Sam Cunningham's single plated Cournoyer. Pfister then doubled home Cunningham and Baum, while Mike Levin's single scored Pfister. Emory added its final run in the seventh when Cournoyer's ground out scored David Hissey.
DePauw totaled 10 hits, but hit into three double plays. Matt Deahl led the Tigers with three hits, while Jeremy Dickinson added a pair. Emory totaled nine hits with Levin leading the way with three.
Jason Glushon improved to 6-0 with the win as he struck out six and didn't walk a batter in seven innings. Eric Mattingly dropped to 0-1 after going five innings.
DePauw plays at Piedmont on Wednesday afternoon.
