March 12, 2006, North Manchester, Ind. - The DePauw baseball team dropped to 5-4 on the season following a 3-1 loss at Manchester.

George Mallett led off the Manchester fifth with a solo homer, while Ryan Seal singled home Michael Shearer later in the inning.

DePauw cut the lead in half in the top of the sixth as Matt Deahl drew a walk to lead off the inning, moved to third on Matt Drew's double and scored on Kyle Dobbs' ground out.

The Spartans added one in the sixth on Zac Bireley's solo homer.

Marcus Miller allowed just five hits in six innings and improved to 2-0, while Mitch Waters picked up the save by allowing just one hit over three innings.

P.J. Mitchell dropped to 2-2 on the season despite allowing six hits over six innings while striking out seven and walking just one.

Manchester outhit the Tigers 7-6 with Mallett collecting a pair for the Spartans.

DePauw hosts Wabash on Tuesday in a 3 p.m. single game.
