Box Score March 21, 2005, Port Charlotte, Fla. - The DePauw baseball team battled back from a 4-0 deficit to take a 6-4 lead over 20th-ranked Carthage before falling in 11 innings by an 8-6 score. The Tigers fell to 11-7 with the loss.
Carthage scored an unearned run in the first off of starter P.J. Mitchell before adding three more in the third to take a 4-0 lead.
The Tigers reached the board in the seventh with a six-run uprising. Matt Deahl led off with a walk and moved to third on Adrian Norris' double. Zach Harris singled to score both before Jon Gratz and Kyle Dobbs each singled to load the bases.
John Younger's base hit scored one and Chris Newman's sacrifice fly made it 4-4. Greg DeBeer drove in two with a single later in the inning to put the Tigers ahead, 6-4. Carthage sent the game to extra innings on Warren Even's two-run homer in the seventh and won it with Mike Huven's two-run shot in the bottom of the 11th.
Younger, DeBeer, Norris and Harris each finished with two hits for the Tigers while Johnny Meier and Even each had three for the Redmen with Jose Alba, Chris Sadjak and Mike Pisano each adding two.
The Tigers take on Chicago on Tuesday.
