Box Score March 15, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - Bill Metzinger pitched a complete-game shutout to help the Tigers to a 5-0 win over visiting Wabash. DePauw improved to 7-5, while Wabash dropped to 8-4.
The Tigers scored three times in the bottom of the fifth as Kyle Dobbs led off with a single. John Younger laid down a sacrifice bunt that Wabash catcher Scott Hamilton fielded but threw wide of first baseman Jared Bogan. Dobbs scored on the play to make it 1-0.
After Chris Newman reached on an error, Ryan Sipe reached on a fielder's choice wth Newman out at second. Greg DeBeer followed with a sacrifice to center which scored Younger. Sipe stole second and Matt Deahl walked before Adrian Norris singled to score Sipe.
In the seventh, the Tigers added two more as Norris singled through the left side to score DeBeer before Kevin McAteer doubled down the the left field line scoring Deahl.
Metzinger scattered seven hits over nine innings with four strikeouts and one walk in improving to 3-0. He retired 10 straight after Billy King led off the game with a double. Wabash starter Jon Horne dropped to 0-2.
The Tigers outhit Wabash 10-7 as Sipe, Norris and McAteer each had two. Seven different Little Giants picked up one hit apiece.
The same two teams square off in Crawfordsville on Wednesday in a single, nine-inning game.
