Box Score February 27, 2005, Lexington, Ky. - The Tigers evened their season record at 2-2 with a 4-3 win at Transylvania. The Pioneers dropped to 1-1 with the loss.
The hosts reached the board first with a single run in the third when Taylor McDonald drove in Mitch Kuczek with fielder's choice. The Pioneers made it 2-0 in the fourth as Ben Eaton scored on a DePauw error.
Kyle Dobbs gave the Tigers their first run when his seventh-inning triple scored Matt Kleine who drew a two-out walk.
In the DePauw eighth, Chris Newman reached base on an error and scored on Ryan Sipe's triple. Sipe then scored on Greg DeBeer's single. DeBeer later scored on a wild pitch to give the Tigers a 4-2 lead.
Transylvania added its final run in the eighth when Eric Weining reach on an error and scored on Bryan Vasse's single.
Newman, Sipe and Dobbs each collected two hits for the Tigers, while Eaton and Jim Wood each had a pair for Transylvania.
John Kihlken picked up the win in relief and Brian Scott notched the save. Brandon Cunningham suffered the loss for the Pioneers. DePauw starter P.J. Mitchell scattered four hits and allowed just one earned run in six innings while striking out 10 and not walking a batter.
DePauw hosts Hope in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday, March 4.
