Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw improved to 18-9 overall and 10-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Sewanee by scores of 4-0 and 11-1. Sewanee slipped to 8-18 overall and 0-6 in the SCAC. The wins extended DePauw's win streak to a season's best seven straight as the Tigers have won 13 of their last 14.

In the opener, Tyson Becker pitched a three-hit shutout to improve to 3-2 on the season and 18-5 for his career, while Matt Woods slipped to 4-4 for Sewanee. The host Tigers got all they would need in the first when Ryan Sipe blasted a two-run homer. DePauw added two more in the second on an RBI double by Hunter Slade that scored Greg DeBeer who led off the inning with a single and a run-scoring single from John Younger.

Sewanee's best chance came in the first when it loaded the bases with one out before DePauw ended the threat with a double play. From that point forward no Sewanee player advanced beyond second base. Sipe, Younger and DeBeer each had two of DePauw's eight hits. David Tipps had two of Sewanee's three hits.

In the nightcap, DePauw sophomore P.J. Mitchell improved to 7-1 on the season by allowing just four hits and an unearned run while striking out seven and not allowing a walk. Mitchell has not allowed a walk in 22 innings of SCAC innings this season. Clay Bridges dropped to 1-3 with the loss.

DePauw jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first when John Younger and Matt Deahl singled. A wild pitch allowed Younger to score before Zach Harris drove in Deahl with a single. Sewanee cut the DePauw lead in half in the second as Chad Henson led off with a single and Tipps reached on an error by Mitchell. Casey Cook's single scored Henson.

The hosts added five in the second as Kyle Dobbs was hit by a pitch, Younger followed with a single and Deahl was also hit by a pitch to load the bases. Sipe followed with a two-run double and Kevin Ehinger followed with a three-run homer.

DePauw scored four more in the fourth as Sipe led off with a homer. Ehinger was hit by a pitch and Harris reached on a fielder's choice when Ehinger beat the throw at second. Each moved up on a wild pitch before DeBeer brought them both home with a double. Dobbs then tripled to score DeBeer and conclude the DePauw scoring.

Younger, Sipe and Harris each collected two of DePauw's 11 hits.

The two teams conclude their four-game series on Sunday with a noon doubleheader at Walker Field.
