Box Score Greencastle, Ind. - P.J. Mitchell pitched a nine-inning complete game and Kevin Ehinger collected three hits including his second homer in as many days as DePauw evened its record at 4-4 with a 5-4 victory over visiting Benedictine.
The Tigers fell behind 2-0 in the first as Benedictine collected four singles in the opening frame. The Tigers countered with a pair in the bottom half of the inning with two outs as Zach Harris singles, Ehinger tripled and John Younger singles.
DePauw added two more in the second on Mike Gonzalez's single followed by a double from Matt Deahl and a single by Ryan Sipe. DePauw scored its final run in the fifth on Ehinger's two-out solo homer. The Eagles plated a single run in the sixth with the help of three DePauw errors.
Mitchell allowed just three singles over the last six innings in improving his record to 1-1 on the season. Brian Manering suffered the loss for Benedictine.
The Tigers return to action on Sunday, March 7, with a single, nine-inning game against Manchester. The first pitch at Walker Field is slated for noon.
