Greencastle, Ind. - The Tigers dropped to 3-4 on the season after losing both ends of a doubleheader with Hope College at Walker Field. Hope won the first game by an 8-5 score and took the nightcap, 6-5.

In game one, Hope jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first as Vance Nardin and Nate Brandsen hit back-to-back RBI doubles and Eric MacKenzie singled to score Brandsen. The Tigers rallied with five in the bottom half of the inning after Matt Deahl led off with a walk and Ryan Sipe followed with a double. Zach Harris' single scored Deahl and Kevin Ehinger's blast over the fence in left center put the Tigers in the lead. John Younger added a run-scoring double with two outs.

Hope knotted the score with two in the third as Aaron Quimby's single plated a pair. The Flying Dutchmen then added one in the fitfth and two more in the sixth.

Tyson Becker suffered the loss, while Jon Deming picked up the complete game win after allowing just one hit over the final six innings.

In the second game, Hope again jumped out to an early lead with two in the first on Brandsen's single and MacKenzie's sacrifice fly. DePauw tied the game with solo runs in the second and third on a sacrifice fly by Mike Gonzalez and a single from Harris.

Hope countered with two in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a 5-2 lead, but the Tigers put together a rally in the bottom of the fifth. Kevin McAteer banged a one-out single to left and Chris Newman walked before Deahl doubled down the left field line to score McAteer. Ryan Sipe walked before Harris hit a grounder to short to force Sipe. Harris reached safely, but Sipe was called for interference on the play thus ending the inning.

The Flying Dutchmen added a run in the sixth on Dana Glass' RBI double and the Tigers scored two in the sixth on Hunter Slade's two-run homer to left center. The round-tripper was the first of Slade's collegiate career. DePauw threatened in the seventh as Newman led off with a single to left. Deahl ripped a ball to center that Glass appeared to have bobbled. The play was ruled a catch and Newman was doubled up at first.

Andrew Vlasak pitched 5 1/3 innings to notch the win for Hope, while Mike Howes earned the save in relief. Dave Edmonds dropped to 1-1 on the season with the loss.
