Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

March 13, 2002

Greencastle, Ind. - The Tigers rallied from a 6-2 deficit in the first game of a doubleheader with visiting Wabash to take an 8-6 victory and then defeated the Little Giants 9-1 in the nightcap.

In the opener, the Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on Jason Geringer's two-run double. Wabash countered with one in the second and five in the third as all five came with two outs. The big blow in the third was Bryson Renbarger's three-run line drive homer to left center.

DePauw scored three each in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings. In the fourth John Stephens drove in Jeff Bardonaro with a two-out single and Ryan Sipe plated Stephens with a double. After a walk to Jarrett Hunt, Kevin Ehinger singles to score Sipe.

Scott Hamer opened the fifth with a single to center and was moved to second on Bardonaro's bunt. With two outs, John Younger doubled home Hamer to tie the score at 6-6. Stephens then brought home Younger with the eventual game-winning run with a double down the right field line. Sipe singled to score Stephens to make it 8-6.

Daniel Mack entered the game in relief of starter Tyson Becker and struck out the side in the seventh to earn the save.

In the nightcap, Wabash scored an unearned run off of starter Dave Edmonds in the top of the third, but the Tigers scored six in the bottom half of the inning. Stephens drove in one with a double to left center and a second run scored on the play as Jeremy Legge knocked the ball out of Wabash catcher Jake Knott's mitt on a play at the plate. Hunt tripled home two runs before Ehinger added a run-scoring double.

In the sixth, Geringer led off with a single and Hamer doubled. Bardonaro then drove them in with a single. Later in the inning, Younger drove in Bardonaro with a sacrifice fly.

Edmonds allowed just four hits in seven innings, while recording six strikeouts.
