GREENCASTLE, IND. - The Tigers battled back from as much as a three-run deficit to tie the score in the eighth against visiting Marian, but the Knights rallied for five runs in the tenth inning to take a 10-5 win over DePauw. DePauw fell to 23-16 on the season, while Marian improved to 27-15-1.

Marian began the tenth with singles by Blake Deuser and Brady Armstrong and a double by Wes Hayden that scored Deuser and gave them a 6-5 lead. After an intentional walk to Andy Miller, Erik Morrison blasted a grand slam over the fence in right field to make it 10-5.

The Knights got on the board quickly with three runs as they picked up three runs in the first on an RBI single by Armstrong and a two-run double by Hayden.

DePauw scored one in the second after Nick Horvath singled to right and throw to second was off the mark, allowing Dan Jones to score.

Marian added a single run in the third as Armstrong led off with a single and Hayden followed with a run-scoring double to center to put the Knights ahead 4-1. Javair Gillett doubled in the third to score Steve Spasojevich and John Stephens and cut the margin to 4-3 but the Tigers left the bases loaded.

Morrison and Brett Johnson hit back-to-back doubles in the sixth to make it 5-3, but the Tigers countered in the bottom half of the inning with Spasojevich's sacrifice fly that scored Horvath.

Chris Hemmerlein, who came into the game in the seventh in relief of DePauw starter Jason Lee, held the Knights hitless over three innings allowing the Tigers to tie the score in the eighth.

Stephens led off the eighth with a walk and moved to second on Spasojevich's bunt. Stephens went to third on a wild pitch and Jarrett Hunt drove him in with a single through the left side.

DePauw stranded 15 runners in the game including nine in the final five innings. Hemmerlein suffered his first loss of the season in two decisions, while Charlie Workman picked up the win in relief. 

Armstrong and Hayden each collected three hits for Marian with Morrison adding two. Hayden and Morrison each drove in four in the contest. Horvath went four-for-five for the Tigers, while Gillett added two.

The Tigers, the number one seed in the SCAC Eastern Division, begin play in the SCAC Championship on Friday, April 27, against the winner of Thursday's Souhwestern at Rose-Hulman game. Friday's game begins at 10 a.m. at Walker Field. 

NOTES: Steve Spasojevich collected one hit to move into a tie for second with Dan Jones on DePauw's career hits list with 165. Adam Dill (1996-99) holds the record with 166.

After Jarrett Hunt tagged out Marian's Chris Johnson, he fired to second where Gillett tagged out Keith Waller for the unconventional 5-4-6-3 double play.
