Pat Creel's two-hitter lifted the Tigers to a 6-1 win in Sunday's first game.

GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The DePauw baseball team won three of its four games with visiting Centre College to take over first place in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference East Division standings.

  On Saturday, the Tigers split a doubleheader as they came from behind to win the first game 6-4 before dropping the nightcap 6-1. In the first game, Centre scored four runs in the fourth inning off of starter Daniel Mack, but came back with four of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Scott Hamer's two-run double got the scoring started and was followed by an RBI single from Nick Horvath and a fielders choice off the bat of Jeff Bardonaro.

DePauw scored the game-winning runs in the bottom of the sixth as John Stephens hit a sacrifice fly that scored Horvath. Steve Spasojevich added an RBI single to give the Tigers the two-run cushion entering the final inning. Hamer and Jarrett Hunt each had two hits in the contest and Mack improved to 1-3 on the season.

The Colonels took a 1-0 lead into the ninth inning of the second game before scoring five runs to put the game away. Spasojevich and Javair Gillett each collected a pair of hits for the Tiger and Jason Lee suffered his third loss in four decisions.

The Tigers swept Sunday's doubleheader, but again trailed in the first game by a 1-0 count before scoring three each in the fourth and sixth innings for a 6-1 win. John Stephens drove in one in the fourth with a single, while Spasojevich plated two with a single. DePauw' three runs in the sixth came on Hunt's RBI single, a run-scoring double from Gillett and an RBI single by Scott Hamer.

Spasojevich, Hunt, Hamer and Stephens each had two his for DePauw, while sophomore southpaw Pat Creel allowed just two hits and no earned runs in seven innings.

Dan Jones delivers a sacrifice fly to produce the only run of DePauw's 1-0 victory in the final game of the series.

In game two, the teams battled through a scoreless game heading into the bottom of the ninth as Tyson Becker allowed just four hits in six innings and Chris Hemmerlein one in three frames. Hamer led off the ninth by reaching base and advanced to second on an error by the Centre shortstop. Stephens pinch ran for Hamer and was advanced to thid on Jason Geringer's single. Horvath was intentionally walked and Dan Jones hit a sacrifice fly to center that scored Stephens with the only run of the game.

DePauw collected just four hits off of Centre starter Ryan Moore and the Colonels had only five off of Becker and Hemmerlein.

The 8-8 Tigers travel to Franklin for a single, nine inning game this afternoon.
