Box Score 3 Greencastle, Ind. - Hall of famer Ernie Banks may have wanted to play two, but how about three? That's what DePauw and Adrian did on Sunday at Walker Field. DePauw won the first two games by scores of 3-0 and 3-2, while Adrian took the nightcap, 2-1.
Jeff Summers (Jr., Louisville, Ky./DeSales) was the game-one hero as the right-hander pitched a two-hit shutout and struck out 12 along the way. Bruce Fleck's (So., Ferdinand/Forest Park) RBI single in the second andEric Peterson's (Sr., Elkhart/Elkhart Memorial)sacrifice fly in the same inning gave the Tigers all they needed. Bill Cartwright (Sr., Clarendon Hills, Ill./Hinsdale Central) added a sacrifice fly in the third for the final run.
Greg Seitz (Sr., Kettering, Ohio/Fairmont) drilled a bases loaded double in the first inning of the second game to plate all three DePauw runs for the game in their 3-2 win. Adrian's Wayne McEwen blasted a two-run homer in the top of the sixth to close the gap and the Bulldogs had the go-ahead run on first before Matt Walker (So., Crawfordsville/Crawfordsville) relieved Jim Combs (So., Indianapolis/Park Tudor) and slammed the door on the guests.
The Tigers scored first in the third game as Fleck drove home Rob Kiburz (Jr., Wausau, Wis./Wausau East)with a single in the fifth, but Adrian responded with two in the top of the sixth for the win.
