Know Before You Go

Know Before You Go

DePauw University is excited to host the 128th Monon Bell Classic on Saturday, November 12.  Below are helpful reminders for you to know before you go …

  • Getting to Greencastle.  We expect the main roads to be free of construction but it’s always good to check in INDOT just to be sure.  Once in Greencastle, use our traffic flow map to help you get to one of our parking lots as swiftly as possible while avoiding local road closures and awkward turns.

  • Parking Lot Access.  This map will help you identify where each tailgating parking lot is located (lots open at 8am) and also give you a heads up on where there is no street parking in adjacent neighborhoods.  If you purchased pre-paid parking, please bring your colored pass AND print the .pdf receipt.  Have these “in hand” as you approach the lot entrances to help our lot attendants.

    • If you have purchased a tailgating space in Blackstock or Peeler but won’t be arriving with a vehicle, please see DePauw Security at the entrance to the Blackstock lot or the Peeler Parking lot attendant on Indiana Street (near the Peeler lot handicap spaces).

    • Handicap accessible parking is available, free of charge, in the Julian lot.

    • Didn’t purchase parking and you aren’t sure where to park?  Ridpath Elementary School, located at Crown and Elm Streets, can be a great place to park while making a $20 (cash only) donation to the local elementary school; tailgating without alcohol is permitted in this lot.

  • Tailgating.  Please remember to review our tailgating guidelines.  For safety reasons, we do not allow glass bottles, hard alcohol and fire pits in University parking lots; tailgating is not permitted on city streets, either.  If you see someone who is struggling, please get the attention of an uniformed officer or game day staff member so we can assist them.

  • Tickets.  While you can access your ticket electronically, please bring a PRINTED ticket with you.  WiFi and cellular can fail so bringing a printed/paper ticket ensures you can easily get into the game.  Gates open at 11am and kick-off is at 1:07pm.  Give yourself plenty of time to get to the gate and into the game; we will have golf cart shuttles from each of the tailgating lots to and from the ticketing gates for those who need assistance (golf carts are available beginning at 11am).

  • Getting Into the Game.  All bags will be searched by private security; please review the list of permitted and prohibited items BEFORE arriving at the ticket gate.  Leave large bags at home and carry as few items as possible to expedite your entry into the venue.

  • During the Game.  Each side of the venue will have access to their own bathrooms (port-o-lets) and concession stand.  The concession stand menu is limited … hot dogs, chips, cookies, popcorn, water and hot chocolate … and FREE (compliments of Bon Appetit) until we run out or at the end of the 3rd quarter, whichever comes first.

  • At the End of the Game.  Celebrate in the stands!  Do not rush the field!  We get it … a win for either team is going to mean a whole lot but for the safety of everyone, please stay off the field.  Once the clock hits 0:00, we will set it for 15:00 and at the end of 15 minutes, fans will be allowed on the field.  Please give each head coach time to talk to their team.

  • Post Game.  Please clean up your tailgating area and be aware of your surroundings as you leave the parking lots.  Uniformed officers will help us get you out of the parking lots safely.

We can’t wait to see you all on Saturday!
