St Louis, Mis. - The DePauw women's soccer team fell to Rhodes 1-0 due to a late-game goal by the Lynx on Saturday, September 19.
The first half was a stalemate, with neither team able to put a ball in the back of the net. Miller Spreen threatened to open the game's scoring in the 11th minute with a shot on goal, but it was saved by the Lynx goalkeeper, Lauren Hollis.
Both teams showed strong defense to start the second half, only totaling three shots collectively through the 70th minute. However, Rhodes was able to break through the Tiger defense in the 83rd minute, with Ella Mullally scoring the game's only goal.
DePauw didn't give up, firing off two shots after that, including a shot on goal from Spreen in the 90th minute, but it was saved and the Tigers were unable to net the equalizer.
Rhodes tallied 17 shots while DePauw recorded three. The Lynx also edged out the Tiger in corners 6-1. DePauw's goalkeeper, Marley Ball, recorded six saves, while Hollis logged two saves for Rhodes.
The Tigers are back in action on Sunday, September 19, taking on UC Santa Cruz at 12 p.m EST in St. Louis, Mis.
