Tigers Split Friday Matches

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw opened the home portion of its schedule with a split of its Friday matches. Third-ranked Illinois Wesleyan topped the Tigers 3-1 (25-21, 15-25, 25-10, 25-20) before DePauw came back for a 3-1 (20-25, 25-13, 25-12, 25-19) victory over Monmouth to move to 4-2 on the season.

Against Illinois Wesleyan, Addison Hooker paced the Tigers with nine kills, while Madeline Ozersky added eight. Julia McWaters paced DePauw with 21 assists and 15 digs with Jen Proeh totaling five blocks.

Alex Bardouniotis, Carly Whitaker and Juliana Valdez each totaled 11 kills for the Titans with Sophia Feeney leading with 19 assists and two aces and Lauren O'Brien adding 18 assists. Alysa Lawton had a team-high 28 digs, while Valdez led with four blocks.

Illinois Wesleyan led in kills, 52-40 and outhit the Tigers, .188-.126.

Against Monmouth, Ozersky led DePauw with 15 kills, while Proeh and Hooker added 12 apiece. McWaters totaled 25 assists with Lacey Pickering adding 25 digs. Proeh and Lauren Bohn had two aces apiece while Proeh, Kaiden Harrington and Izzy Wallace each finishing with two blocks.

Kaylee Celus led the Fighting Scots with 11 kills with Tyla Mattson totaling 12 assists and 17 digs. Melina Teunis paced Monmouth with three blocks and two aces.

DePauw held a 62-34 edge in kills and outhit the Fighting Scots, .214-.101. The Tigers led in digs, 103-76.

DePauw hosts Anderson tomorrow at 11 a.m. and Illinois Tech at 1 p.m.
