Decatur, Ill. - The DePauw Tigers dropped a doubleheader against Millikin, 4-11 and 2-4. With the losses, the Tigers slipped to 14-10 on the season.
In the first game, Big Blue went up 2-0 against the Tigers in the first, capitalizing on a double and passed ball.Â
In the top of the third, Kelsey Schneider delivered a grounder for a force out, allowing Libby Minobe to run across the plate to cut the lead 2-1 in favor of Millikin.Â
Big Blue responded with two runs before DePauw came back in the fifth to tack on three more runs. Ella Kuenster knocked a home run over the left center field fence, driving herself home. Emily DuMais singled up the middle to bat in two more runs for the Tigers.Â
Millikin delivered six more runs throughout the remainder of the game.Â
Alex Romero-Salas dropped to 7-5 with the loss, while Alyssa Dralle improved to 8-5 in the circle.
Six different Tigers collected two hits each, while Haley Willan had three of the Big Blues' 14 hits. Paige Brady tallied two doubles in the game, Minobe tripled, and Kuenster tallied her third home run this season. Kelsey Schneider and Ella Ohrvall led the Tigers on the base path with two stolen bases each.
Heading into the second game, Millikin drove home their first run off a double to left. DePauw counterattacked when Avery Welsh grounded out to first, driving home Natalia Brignoni-Marcano to tie the game up 1-1 at the end of the second.
Big Blue drove in two more runs with a double and a home run before Schneider cut the lead 4-2 in the fifth inning with an RBI single, allowing Minobe to score.Â
Eliza Rammel went 2-2 at the plate while Minobe tallied two stolen bases.Â
Izzy Deveau dropped to 5-4, while Abby Wilken improved to 4-0 in the circle.
DePauw takes on Oberlin for North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday, April 11, with a 1 p.m. home doubleheader
