Aidan Howard's walk-off single scored
Tyler Walkey and gave DePauw a 6-5 win over Rose-Hulman as the Tigers came back from a 5-2 deficit. DePauw improved to 16-8, while the Fightin' Engineers dropped to 12-11.
DePauw got on the board first as
Aidan Howard hit a two-out, solo homer to right in the third.
Rose-Hulman countered with four runs in the top of the fourth as Jackson Harms led off with a walk and moved to third on Connor O'Connell's double. Mason Rasmussen's sacrifice fly scored Harms before Noah Rasmussen singled home O'Connell. Matthew Furtado made it 4-1 with a two-run homer to left.
The Tigers cut the deficit to 4-2 in the fifth as
Connor Osborne led off with a walk, but was forced at second when
Cooper Davis reached on a fielder's choice. Davis moved to third when Howard reached on an error and then scored on a passed ball.
Jackson Summers walked with one out in the sixth, stole second and advanced to third on Michael Hines' single. Hines was caught stealing before Harms walked. Summers scored on a balk to make it 5-2.
Grady Johnson doubled with one out in the bottom of the eighth and
Louis Florida followed with a two-out homer to right.
Nate Hulen then hammered the next pitch over the fence in left center to even the score at 5-5.
Danny Jaso led off the Rose-Hulman ninth with a walk and advanced to third when Summers reached on a throwing error of his sacrifice bunt. DePauw reliever
Michael Hoog worked ouf of the jam by retiring the next three batters.
Walkey led off the DePauw ninth with a double before Howard drilled the second pitch to the opposite field for the win.
Howard and Florida each had two of DePauw's 10 hits, while Noah Rasmussen had two of Rose-Hulman's six hits.
Hoog improved to 1-1, while Jack Reeves dropped to 1-1.
The Tigers host Ohio Wesleyan tomorrow in a Noon North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader.
