Granville, Ohio - DePauw moved to 14-8 overall and 3-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference following a doubleheader split at Denison. The Tigers won by a 6-4 score in the opener before falling, 3-2, in the nightcap. Denison moved to 9-13 overall and 2-2 in the NCAC.
In game one, the Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first as
Libby Minobe reached on an error and
Eliza Rammel later singled before
Ella Kuenster followed with a three-run homer.
Denison countered with one in the bottom of the first as Indy Workman singled and Carley Melton doubled before Emerson Seevers scored Workman with a single.
DePauw's
Hanna Coffel singled with one out in the second and advanced to second before scoring when
Mia Speidel reached on an error.
Madilyn Moffitt's solo homer in the fourth cut the DePauw lead to 4-2 and the Big Red evened the score at 4-4 in the fifth. Workman singled and scored on Melton's double. Seevers followed with a single with Melton scoring on the play..
In the sixth,
Avery Welsh struck out but reached on a passed ball. Pinch-runner
Ella Ohrvall stole second and moved to third when Coffel reached on an error. Coffel stole second before Minobe reached on an error with Ohrvall and Coffel scoring.
Denison put a pair of runners in scoring position in the seventh, but the Tigers retired the final two batters.
Kuenster had two of DePauw's six hits, while Seevers had four of Denison's 10 hits with Workman and Melton finishing with two each.
Izzy Deveau improved to 5-3, while
Alex Romero-Salas collected her second save. Brooke Surbaugh dropped to 4-7.
In the second game, Andrea Care led off with a single in the second and moved to second base on Brianna Gonzalez's sacrifice bunt. Care stole third and scored on Leilah Ferrari's single.
DePauw evened the score in the fourth as Schneider reached third on an error and scored on Kuenster's sacrifice fly.
Denison came right back in the bottom of the fourth as Alex Longstreth led off with a single, moved to second on Ferrari's sacrifice bunt and scored on Workman's double.
The Big Red added a run in the fifth as Liana "Seri" Su scored from third on an error as Gonzalez stole second.
In the seventh, Rammel led off with a single for the Tigers and pinch-runner
Angelese Cruz moved to second on Romero-Salas' single.
Paige Brady singled to load the bases with no outs.
Kendall Hynes grounded out with Cruz scoring. Denison retired pinch-runner
Anni Felts at the plate on
Alyse Price's fielder's choice grounder and a ground out ended the game.
Five different Tigers collected one hit each with Workman totaling two of Denison's 10 hits.Â
