Game Two Walk-Off Completes Tigers' Sweep

Greencastle, Ind. - A walk-off win in the dark in game two against Illinois Wesleyan gave DePauw a doubleheader sweep by scores of 7-3 and 11-10. The Tigers improved to 22-14, while the Titans dropped to 25-13.

In the opener, Illinois Wesleyan jumped out to an early lead as Kelsey Bartels drew a one-out walk and scored on Casey Wissmiller's triple. Claire Post then delivered a double that scored Wissmiller.

DePauw answered in the bottom of the first as Eliza Rammel singled with two outs and scored on Paige Brady's double. The Tigers evened the score at 2-2 on Megan Stieglitz's leadoff homer in the third.

The Titans regained the lead in the fourth as Jillian Bollard led off with a walk and pinch-runner Paige Veller moved to second on Julia Wilkens' sacrifice bunt. After Isabella Boskey reached on an error that moved Veller to third, Annika Brown singled home Veller.

DePauw evened the score at 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth as Ella Kuenster reached on an error before Hanna Coffel followed with a bunt single. Emily DuMais' grounder advanced the runners and Avery Welsh followed with an RBI single.

Libby Minobe led off the DePauw fifth with a walk before Kelsey Schneider and Rammel each singled to load the bases. Brady hit a ball back to the pitcher and an error on the attempted force out at the plate allowed two runs to score. Rammel scored on a wild pitch on Kuenster's walk and Brady crossed on Coffel's grounder.

Rammel had two of DePauw's seven hits, while three different Titans collected one hit each.

Izzy Deveau improved to 9-5 after allowing just three hits and only one after the first inning. Mallory Holland dropped to 6-5.

In the nightcap, the Titans again got our to a quick start with a four-run first. Grace Wilkens led off with a single and advanced to second when Bartels reached on a fielder's choice of her sacrifice bunt. Wissmiller's single loaded the bases and Claire Post followed with a two-run single. Jillian Bollard's sacrifice fly scored Wissmiller and Boskey's base hit brought home Post.

DePauw countered in the bottom of the first with Schneider singling with one out, stealing second and scoring on Rammel's base hit.

Boskey's two-run homer in the third expanded the Titans' lead to 6-1.

DePauw answered in the bottom of the third on Kuenster's two-run double to cut the deficit to 6-3. Stieglitz drew a one-out walk in the fourth before Minobe singled. Both moved up one base on a wild pitch and Schneider followed with an RBI single. Rammel's run-scoring single brought home Minobe and Schneider scored on a wild pitch to even the score at 6-6.

DuMais drew a one-out walk in the fifth and pinch-runner Angelese Cruz stole second. Stieglitz singled Cruz to third before Minobe gave the Tigers a 7-6 lead with an RBI single.

The Tigers carried the lead into the seventh, but the Titans scored four as Wissmiller singled with one out and moved to third on Post's double. Bollard drove in Wissmiller and Maddie Pool hit a two-out, three-run homer to give Illinois Wesleyan a 10-7 lead.

Pinch-hitter Kendall Hynes led off the DePauw seventh with a single and pinch-runner Anni Felts advanced to third on Stieglitz's double. Minobe's single scored Stieglitz and a pair of wild pitches moved her to third. Rammel reached on an error with Minobe scoring. After Alex Romero-Salas walked, Kunester drove in Rammel with a two-out, game-winning base hit.

Minobe and Schneider each had three of DePauw's 13 hits with Rammel, Kuenster and Stieglitz following with two each.

Post and Boskey each had three of Illinois Wesleyan's 11 hits with Wissmiller adding two. 

Romero-Salas improved to 11-8, while Holland drooped to 6-6. 

DePauw wraps up North Coast Athletic Conference play on Saturday when it hosts Kenyon in a 1 p.m. doubleheader
