New Concord, Ohio - DePauw dropped to 20-14 following a doubleheader loss at Muskingum by scores of 9-1 and 10-2. The Fighting Muskies improved to 29-7.
The teams were scoreless through the first three innings of the opener before DePauw broke through in the fourth.
Kelsey Schneider led off with a single and moved to second after
Eliza Rammel reached on a fielder's choice.
Paige Brady advanced both with a sacrifice bunt before
Ella Kuenster delivered a sacrifice fly that scored Schneider.
The lead was short-lived as Muskingum scored four in the fourth, two in the fifth and three in the sixth to take the run-rule win.
Kuenster had two of DePauw's five hits. Kasey Timlo had three of Muskingum's 12 hits with Payton Hochradel, Natalie Smith and Sydnie Prince each finishing with two.
Izzy Deveau dropped to 8-5, while Tareyn Born improved to 8-4.
In the nightcap, the Tigers struck first again as Kuenster doubled with one out, moved to third on
Ella Ohrvall's grounder and scored on a wild pitch.
The Muskies evened the score in the third as Prince led off with a single, moved to second on Olivia Dishon's sacrifice bunt and crossed on Cara Taylor's double.
Rammel led off the DePauw fourth with a single, moved to second on Brady's grounder and scored on
Alex Romero-Salas' double.
The Muskies plated four in the fourth and five in the sixth for the win.
Rammel had two of DePauw's six hits. Taylor, Prince and Dishon each had two of Muskingum's nine hits.
Romero-Salas dropped to 10-8, while Bethany Rodman improved to 12-2.
DePauw returns to action on Thursday, April 30, when it hosts Illinois Wesleyan in a 4 p.m. doubleheader.
