Hope's Second-Half Run Sends Tigers to Defeat

Holland, Mich. - DePauw evened the score at 11-11 with four straight third-period goals, but Hope finished the game on a 9-0 run and took a 20-11 victory over the Tigers. DePauw dropped to 1-4, while the Flying Dutch improved to 3-0.

Hope held a 5-3 lead after the opening period and extended it to 10-6 at halftime. The teams exchanged goals over the opening 2:09 of the second half before DePauw's Kate Leone and Rosalie Tasker each scored a pair to even the score at 11-11 with 7:45 remaining in the third.

The Flying Dutch, however scored the final four goals of the third and blanked the Tigers, 5-0, in the fourth.

Leone led the Tigers with four goals with Tasker totaling two. Kai Coffee assisted on two for DePauw. Kate Sullivan led DePauw with four draw controls and shared the lead in ground balls with Katie Jauchius as each had three. Isabel Ramirez caused two turnovers and Niamh Callahan recorded seven saves in goal.

Sarah Rott and Julia Brown scored four each for Hope with Ireland Brown adding three. Rott assisted on four others for the Flying Dutch. Caleigh Randall led the way with nine draw controls with Maggie Rennick and Jillian Paul finishing with three ground balls each. Ireland Brown caused three turnovers with Samantha Smith stopping 10 DePauw shots.

Hope held a narrow, 34-31, edge in shots, but 27-18 in those on target. DePauw totaled 12 turnovers to Hope's 13 with the Flying Dutch leading in ground balls, 20-19. Hope also won 20 of the 33 draws.

DePauw travels to Illinois Wesleyan on Tuesday, March 10, for a 4 p.m. CDT contest.
