Columbus, Ga. - DePauw wrapped up play at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Leadoff Classic with a sweep of its final two games as they topped 13th-ranked Emory, 3-2, before defeating LaGrange, 10-2, in five innings.
Against Emory,
Alex Romero-Salas hit a solo homer in the fourth and
Eliza Rammel did the same in the fifth before
Libby Minobe drove in
Hanna Coffel with a double in the fifth.
Emory reached the scoreboard in the fifth as Megan Sutton doubled home Oliviia Kohler and the Eagles added one more in the sixth as Zoe Horning drove in Ellie Zerr with a single.
Romero-Salas and Rammel each had two of DePauw's seven hits, while Zerr and Ella Hoyle each finished with two of Emory's six hits.
Romero-Salas improved to 3-1, while Greta Uhlmann took the loss.
Against LaGrange, DePauw scored five runs each in the first and fifth innings on the way to earning the run-rule victory.
Rammel's bases-loaded triple in the first was followed by RBI singles from
Kendall Hynes and
Avery Welsh.
LaGrange added a pair in the top of the fifth before DePauw ended the contest in the bottom half of the inning.
Anni Felts drove in
Katherine Warren with a single and Felts scored when Coffel reached on an error. Minobe's two-run double and
Ella Kuenster's run-scoring double wrapped up the game.
Kelsey Schneider had three of DePauw's 12 hits, while Felts had two. Claire Chamberlain and Kayla Helms each had two of LaGrange's seven hits.
Izzy Deveau picked up the win and improvedt o 1-1, while Chamberlain took the loss.
DePauw returns to action March 14-15 at Transylania's Pioneer Classic in Elizabethtown, Ky.
