Lexington, Ky. - DePauw pushed its win streak to three and improved to 4-4 with a 21-6 win at Transylvania. The Pioneers dropped to 4-6.
Kate Sullivan and
Delana Underwood scored in the first four minutes, both assisted by
Katie Jauchius, to put the Tigers in the lead for good. Transylvania countered with a score, but DePauw tallied the next eight goals to grab an 11-1 lead with 6:46 left in the first half.
The Pioneers closed the gap to 11-3 at halftime before the Tigers outscored the hosts, 10-3, in the second half.
Sullivan led the Tigers with seven goals with
Emerson Perea and
Mary Mason each totaling three. Jauchius totaled five assists in the win.
Kai Coffee paced the Tigers with eight draw controls and three caused turnovers and shared the team lead for ground balls with Mason as each had three.Â
Avery Kirkhope paced Transylvania with two goals, while Layla Hobbs-Powell had five draw controls. Sofie Garrett led the way with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Niamh Callahan record six saves in goal for the Tigers, while Ruby Himes had 10 stops for the Pioneers.
DePauw held a 37-16 edge in shots including 28-12 in shots on goal. The Tigers held a 15-12 advantage in draw controls and 17-11 in ground balls while committing just five turnovers to the Pioneers' 14.
The Tigers return to action on March 26 with a 6 p.m. game at Oglethorpe.
