Granville, Ohio - DePauw limited ninth-ranked Denison to a season-low 57 points, but the Big Red held the Tigers to a season-low point total on the way to a 57-40 North Coast Athletic Conference victory.Â
Denison scored the game's first seven points and closed the opening period on a 13-1 run to take a 20-6 lead at the quarter break. The Big Red pushed the lead to as many as 18 on the way to a 30-14 halftime lead.
DePauw opened the second half with four straight points to close the gap to 12, but Denison led, 43-25, after the third. The Tigers opened the final period with a 9-2 stretch to cut the Big Red lead to 11, but Denison scored the next six to seal the win.
Lily Huntzinger paced DePauw with 12 points, while
Olivia Hart added 10. Huntzinger and
Riley Mont each grabbed seven rebounds and Mont dished out three assists.
Abby Cooch was Denison's lone double-figure scorer with 16 points and she handed out seven assists, while Ada Taute grabbed 10 rebounds.
DePauw shot 27.1 percent from the field and hit just 1-of-13 from beyond the 3-point arc. The Big Red connected on 34.3 percent from the field.
The Tigers held a 45-44 rebounding edge and committed 15 turnovers to Denison's eight.
DePauw hosts Oberlin on Sat., Feb. 7, for a 1 p.m. NCAC game.
