Memphis, Tenn. - On the strength of three homers, DePauw moved to 3-1 on the season following a 12-5 win over Illinois Wesleyan. The Titans dropped to 1-3.
Illinois Wesleyan took a 2-0 lead in the third as Gage Wolfe walked with one out and moved to third on Matt Hudik's single. Ben Ford followed with a two-run triple to center.
The Tigers reached the board in the fourth as
Louis Florida doubled with one out and moved to third on a wild pitch as
Cooper Davis walked.
Tyler Walkey was hit by a pitch to load the bases and
Max Bond followed with a grand slam to give DePauw a 4-2 lead.
Aidan Howard was hit by a pitch and moved to third when
Grady Johnson singled.
Cuinn Morrow reached on a fielder's choice that forced Johnson but allowed Howard to score.
Hudik singled with one out in the fifth and was forced at second with Ford reaching. Ford stole second and came home on John Philip Ferraro's double to left to close the gap to 5-3.
Bond drew a bases loaded walk in fifth that scored
Zach O'Connell before Howard's sacrifice fly plated Florida. Johnson then delivered a single that brought home Walkey and extended the Tigers' lead to 8-3.
Florida's solo homer in the sixth pushed the lead to 9-3 and Bond's run-scoring single in the seventh made it 10-3.
Ferraro led off the Illinois Wesleyan eighth with a single and moved to third on an error. After Jack Flagg walked, AJÂ Weller singled home Ferraro. Luca Morelli's single plated Flagg and closed the deficit to 10-5.
DePauw tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the eighth as Florida hit a two-run homer.
Florida went 4-for-4 for the Tigers and drove in three, while Johnson had three of DePauw's nine hits. Bond had two hits and drove in six.
Hudik, Ford, Ferraro and Morelli ach had two of the Titan's nine hits.
Jamison Lewis started and earned the win for DePauw in improving to 1-1, while Jake Pullam dropped to 0-1.
DePauw takes on Rhodes tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. CST.
