Memphis, Tenn. - DePauw scored in five different innings and moved to 2-1 with a 7-5 win at Rhodes. The Lynx dropped to 5-2.
Rhodes took a 1-0 lead in the first as Marco Nunez drew a two-out walk and scored on Myles Kruger's double.
DePauw evened the score in the second as
Nolan Whitehead led off with a walk and stole second before
Zach O'Connell and
Louis Florida walked to load the bases.
Bryson Dorsey's sacrifice fly plated Whitehead.
Cuinn Morrow led off the DePauw fourth with a single, moved to second on Whitehead's grounder and came home on O'Connell's single to right to push the Tigers' lead to 2-1.
Tyler Walkey and
Aidan Howard walked in the sixth before
Grady Johnson singled to load the bases. Morrow singled home Howard while Johnson advanced to third on an error. Whitehead then followed with an RBI single to push DePauw's lead to 5-1.
Morrow led off the seventh with a single before Whitehead moved him to second with a base hit. O'Connell then delivered a run-scoring single to right.
Rhodes got back on the board in the sixth as Nunez and Kruger led off with doubles before Corbin Martens drove in Kruger with a base hit. Martens moved to second on an error and to third on Brandon Trichell's sacrifice bunt. Cooper Kuriger reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Martens to score and cut the deficit to 6-4.
Max Bond's eighth-inning solo homer extended the DePauw lead to 7-4. Brad Larson led off the Rhodes ninth with a pinch-hit single and moved to second on a wild pitch. Jace Trozzo's single advanced Larson to third before Cooper Angilly delivered a single that brought home Larson. Trozzo and Angilly moved up on a walk and Kruger walked to load the bases before Martens flied out to end the game.
Morrow and O'Connell each had three of DePauw's 12 hits, while Bond and Johnson had two apiece.
Angilly, Kruger and Trozzo each collected two of DePauw's nine hits.
Pearse Riendeau moved to 1-0 on the season after allowing just one hit over six innings with four strikeouts and two walks.
Lucas Stephan collected his first save. Ed Anglin dropped to 1-1 with the loss.
DePauw returns to action tomorrow with a 10:30 a.m. CST game against Illinois Wesleyan at Rhodes.
