Tigers Wrap Up NCAC Regular Season with Win at Wooster

Wooster, Ohio - DePauw outscored Wooster, 9-2, over the final three minutes and earned a 74-66 North Coast Athletic Conference victory over the Fighting Scots. The Tigers improved to 16-9 overall and finished NCAC play at 9-5 with their fifth straight win. Wooster dropped to 11-14 overall and ended conference play at 3-11.

The Tigers scored the game's first eight points, but Wooster came back to briefly take a 13-12 lead before DePauw regained the advantage and held a 20-18 lead at the quarter break. DePauw expanded the lead to 37-33 at the intermission and maintained it until Wooster closed the third on an 8-3 run to even the score at 54-54.

Wooster matched its largest lead of the game at 61-59 after Abby Henegar's 3-pointer with 5:28 left. Riley Mont countered with a layup which started a 6-0 run that put the Tigers ahead, 65-61. Mackenzie Riccitelli's trey cut the DePauw lead to 65-64, but Campbell Scrank and Olivia Hart each hit buckets to extend the margin to five. 

Riccitelli's jumper closed the gap to 69-66 with 1:51 remaining before Alina Prusko nailed a 3-pointer and Hart scored a basket following a Wooster miss to push the lead to 74-66 with 42 seconds left. A Wooster miss and turnover gave the ball back to DePauw and the Tigers were able to run out the clock.

Mont led DePauw with 24 points and four steals, while Hart had 15 points and Prusko 10. Diana Burgher grabbed nine rebounds with Lily Huntzinger dishing out five assists.

Riccitelli paced Wooster with 19 points followed by Henegar with 15 and four rebounds. Ace Sturdivant paced the squad with eight assists.

DePauw shot 46.8 percent from the field to Wooster's 51.0 percent. The Tigers held a 35-25 rebounding edge and committed just nine turnovers to the Fighting Scots' 16. 

The Tigers open NCAC Tournament play on Tuesday, Feb. 24, with a quarterfinal contest. The opponent and time will be announced later today.
