Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw used a 19-2 run that bridged the first and second periods to pull away from Wittenberg on the way to a 73-43 North Coast Athletic Conference win. DePauw improved to 13-9 overall and 6-5 in the NCAC, while Wittenberg dropped to 11-11 overall and 4-7 in conference play.
The host Tigers scored the final 10 points of the first period before Wittenberg stopped the run with a bucket in the opening minute of the second. DePauw then scored the next nine to take a 30-9 lead with 5:51 left in the opening half. DePauw led by as many as 24 in the first half before taking a 39-19 advantage into the intermission.
DePauw put the game away early in the third after scoring the period's first eight points and extending the lead to 47-19.
Olivia Hart led DePauw with 15 points, while
Hannah Meyers scored a career-high 13.
Lily Huntzinger and
Riley Mont each totaled 11 points with Huntzinger grabbing a career-high eight rebounds.
Diana Burgher matched a career-high and
Bren Hill established one as each finished with four assists. Mont recorded five steals.
Molly Missing paced Wittenberg with 20 points with Catherine Buddenberg following with 14. Myah Johnson grabbed four rebounds with Madi Barnett, Karley Moore and Buddenberg each totaling two assists.
DePauw shot 44.6 percent from the floor to Wittenberg's 34.0 percent and the hosts held a 42-24 rebounding edge for a 21-7 advantage in second-chance points. The host Tigers committed 13 turnovers to Wittenberg's 20 for a 26-13 margin in points off of turnovers.
DePauw returns to action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. NCAC game at Kenyon.
